INVASIVE WEED WORKSHOP
Weeds are simply a plant out of place. Learn about some of
the more invasive species, how to recognise them and what
to do when you spot them. This is important information for
those keen on winning important battles. Presented by Wild
Weed Woman Donna Farrell.

BAMBOO FOREST PLANTINGS
The Bamboo Forest has already begun. Come learn about
the myriad of species, how to plant and look after them, the
issues regarding bamboo and the amazing structures that can
be created from it. Help us continue the creation of a bamboo
forest at Woodfordia. Presented by Nici Long.

CYCADS AND TREE FERNS
Learn about the wonderful world of plants that have been
around since the dinosaurs. These lower story gems of the
plant world provide the link to our original forests. Join us
to plant these special species in Woodfordia’s secret places.

Learn about the various species of Australian native vines and
help plant a selection at Woodfordia’s Woven Sky tunnel to the
amphitheatre. These vines will grow around the structure and
become a beautiful Vine Palace. Presented by Paul Grant.

At the heart of this event is participating in the Community Tree Plantings. There is so much to enjoy and learn in the simple practice
of transforming the festival site alongside your fellow patrons of all ages and persuasions. Woodfordia is graced by the legacy of
the 100,000 trees that have been planted during events passed. Create connections with this beautiful landscape by participating in
the community plantings this festival. Listen for the bell (rung 10 minutes before the start at 9.00am) and gather to meet your hosts
at the Bunya stage. Don’t forget your hat, water bottle, sunscreen, very importantly gardening gloves and whatever gardening tools
(such as secateurs and spades) you have brought from home. Children encouraged.

CONSTRUCTION OF A NATIVE BEE WALL
Learn how to create a beautiful habitat for Australian Native bees.
This project will be focused on making and assembling the small
pieces of wood, bamboo, and clay blocks that will become an
artwork palace for these native bees. Bring your small tools along
such as saws and files to make these bee homes. Presented by
Helen Schwencke and Chris Fuller.

NATIVE STAGE PLANTS
Turn your pot plants into superstars. Learn how to choose the
right native species as a pot plant and transform your home
environment into a bush landscape. Use native plants for your
home and backyard and some innovative ways to create plant
beauty with native plants. This workshop in part involves the
potting of natives that will be used on the stages at the Woodford
Folk Festival later this year. Presented by David Ahrens and Celia

Bushfood plants are an integral part of the Woodfordian
environmental initiative. Come discover the native flora that
can be used for culinary or medicinal purposes from your
garden. This year, the bushfoods team will be planting into and
strengthening an existing bushfood area. Presented by Graeme
White and Veronica Cougan.

On Monday morning we’re hoping for a large rollup of people who can contribute an hour or two to aid Woodfordia in its struggle
with weeds. The previous summer was perfect conditions for plant growing including invasive weeds. We need help. Join Wild
Weed Woman Donna Farrell and her team in what we hope will be a short and sharp working bee to help keep these species at bay.
We invite you to join one of the two sessions, one for the early risers and one for the later risers.
