years, and the land continues to provide
for those who know where to look.
Graeme from Witjuti Grub Bush Foods,
has made an extensive contribution to
the bushfood plantings at Woodfordia,
having coordinated the plantings of over
SAT, SUN Forest Woodford 7:45AM,
Dr. Sandra is an environmental
microbiologist. Her research has focused
on soil bioremediation using microbes
including fungi. She has a deep passion
for all creatures great and small, and
for advocating their intelligence and
Soil microbes, especially fungi
create soils as they consume rocks,
nourishing all other terrestrial life
forms. While some glow in the dark,
others communicate information across
whole forests, some even feast on
nasty chemicals and clean up oil spills.
There are no limits to what these soil
superheroes can do.

A past president of Birds Australia,
Roy has been monitoring the birds of
Woodfordia since the purchase of the
property. He has an extensive knowledge
of nesting habits and habitats of birds.

FROG POND AND HABITAT
Frog ponds provide habitat not just
for frogs but wildlife in general. If you
want to attract wildlife to your garden or
property, installing a pond habitat is the
way to go. Learn about different types
of frog ponds and different frog species
that they attract, how to build them and
how to maintain them.

TOWARDS A WOODFORDIA
A BioBlitz is a 24-hour event in which
members of the community, team up
with volunteer scientists, and work
together to find and identify as many
species of plants, animals, microbes,
fungi, and other organisms as possible.
Starting at the Bunya with a presentation,
Jacqui will then lead a walk where you
can practice using the inaturalist app -
part of the bioblitz process.

Weed Spotters Network
Weed spotters report, collect, identify
and deliver specimens of potential, new
and emerging weeds in their region.
Melinda Laidlaw is the Queensland
Coordinator of this network of ecologists
and scientists working with the
community towards a common goal.
One of Queensland’s largest citizen
science projects is helping protect
Queensland from some of the World’s
worst weeds. Melinda explains Weed
Spotters Network, and the role that
everyone can play in managing noxious
plants in our state.
