CEREMONIAL TREE PLANTING
This year members of Brisbane’s African Community
will plant a special tree to symbolise their connection
to Australia and Woodfordia. Trees have special
signiﬁcance in Africa, under their shade and protection
disputes are settled and important meetings are held.

The Extinction Room is a new solo performance piece
by Linsey Pollak. It is a sound piece creating music
from the sounds of endangered & extinct animals.
These sounds cry out to us in perhaps a more
immediate and emotive way than words can describe.
They are a cry from the animals that share and have
shared this planet with us. This is a solo performance
using live looping. This will be a special event.

THE OPENING CEREMONY
The Opening Ceremony Festival Director Bill Hauritz
will host this years Opening Ceremony with Noel
Blair, spokesman for the Jinibara People, custodians
of Woodfordia and Allan Sutherland, Mayor of the
Moreton Bay Regional Council.
