The Planting is organised by
the Queensland Folk Federation
Incorporated, a community based
non-profit organisation whose object
is to foster the folk movement.
This Programme Booklet has been
printed on Recycled Paper.
Our traditional Custodians are
members of the Jinibara Nation.
The Jinibara people have Native
Title determination for the Woodford
area and are comprised of the
descendents of Fanny Mason known
as Jowalmel who was bor n in the
1840’s at Woodford and Johnny
McKenzie known as Wangiramu bor n
in 1826 near Kilcoy.
RENEW EMBRACE LORE
Planting the 100’000th tree at Woodfordia in May 2012 was a milestone that
we joyfully celebrated. It gave us reason for pause and reflection, to appreciate
the transformation of Woodfordia and the wonderful gifts that The Plantings
have brought since our Forest Woodford project began back in 1995.
Our trees are now important habitats; focal points of beauty during the festival;
providers of gratefully received shade for festival patrons and campers, and
stabilizers for the sculptured landscape that Woodfordia is becoming. We love
them. Their health and longevity is as important to Woodfordia as the land that
This year, we are turning our focus during The Planting towards the
nourishment and protection of the trees at Woodfordia. While The Planting will
continue to honour the tradition of sponsoring a tree or plant at the Woodford
Folk Festival, during the next period, for every tree sponsored, two trees will
receive care to hopefully ensure they will be standing with us for a long time to
