BACKYARD TO BREW: GROWING AND
ROASTING YOUR OWN COFFEE
John and Jeanette Isaacs-Young are on a continual journey towards
self-sufficiency. In this workshop, they will demonstrate how they
grow their own coffee beans and how they take these beans from
harvest to roast to a delicious cup of coffee. $10 per person.

BAMBOO BASICS FOR CONSTRUCTION
Don Corben from Bamboo Yurts has been working with bamboo
since 1989 and comes from a traditional building background. In
this workshop, he will show you the basic techniques of turning
humble bamboo into a structure that you can use. Bring some tools
to work with - small saws, a strong knife, sandpaper, drill bits and
wood tools will all be an advantage. $10 per person.

BUILD YOUR OWN NATIVE BEEHIVE
You will get to create a wonderful safe space for your native friends
in your backyard when you join Richard Neilson from Northey
Street City Farm in building your own native beehive out of recycled
materials. Bee populations not included. $35 per person.

COIL STITCHED BASKETS USING WEEDS
This is where conservation and creativity join forces. You will learn
a simple but effective coil stitch weaving technique used in many
cultures around the world. Stitch coiled weeds together to create a
beautifully functional piece of environmental art. $10 per person.

EVOLVING THE ‘NO-DIG’ GARDEN
Utilising garden and urban wastes you can turn your lawn or
degraded garden area into a highly fertile productive garden with
minimal external inputs. Join Bunya from Northey Street City Farm
in a practical workshop designed for all ages and abilities.

GARDENING WITH THE FOUR ELEMENTS
Bunya demonstrates how to get to know your garden as a sacred
balance of the four elements of nature: earth, fire, wind and water.
This workshop offers a simple analytical framework to use as the
primary tool to improve your garden’s productivity.
